Please review the following policies carefully, as they are meant to help create a positive customer experience, outline the details of our custom design process, and address any possible questions you might have.

By purchasing any product from The Keen Bee, you acknowledge that you have read, understand, and agree to the following terms and conditions for all orders:
INVITATION SUITES & CUSTOM DESIGNS:
We understand that sometimes couples change their minds, or that event styles can change from your original plan. For this reason, The Keen Bee offers two rounds of revisions after an initial proof has been presented, but before the final inking, printing, or delivery or your order. Revisions past the initial two are free of charge, but will add two weeks per revision to your original production schedule. We strongly suggest discussing any desired changes all at once, to avoid the necessity for further rounds of revisions or pushing your original completion date. We will always do our best to accommodate your desired verbiage and content, and want you to be completely in love with your pieces. However, we reserve the right to select the typeface used in your suite, and adjust the layout or style, and substitute calligraphy with type as needed, to ensure that artistic integrity remains intact.
CUSTOM DESIGN SUPPLIES:
Once your deposit is received, your supplies will be ordered. Any adjustments to paper, envelopes, ribbon/twine, seals, or color will incur an additional charge. If you are considering a change to your order, please let us know as soon as you can to avoid an additional charge or material changes.
DESIGN APPROVAL & PRINTING:
All wedding, stationery, illustration, and custom calligraphy customers must approve final designs before they are printed/inked. This does not apply to envelope addressing or place card orders which will not include customer proofs before production begins. Day of event signage orders do not include a proof unless requested prior to placing your order, and do add additional time to our current production timeline.
All customers are responsible for double checking all spelling and design during the drafting/proposal process and giving final approval. Once final approval is given, your order will be sent to print and further design changes cannot be made. We will always do our best to avoid any mistakes, but once you have given final approval and your items are printed, The Keen Bee is not liable for any spelling errors that were not corrected by the client during the proofing process.
Once your order has been printed and delivered, any additional reprints are subject to the printing minimum quantity and production timeline for whatever your chosen printing method is. To avoid this, we recommend ordering an additional 10%-15% of your invitation suites to accommodate any last minute additions to your guest lists, address corrections, or invitations that are lost in the mail.
If you have chosen handmade paper for your order, you are acknowledging that due to the delicate nature of each piece, there will be variations in size, texture, shape, color, etc. that are part of the lovely aesthetic of handmade paper and cannot be controlled. Because of the lovely deckled edges, printers are not able to register handmade paper with 100% accuracy. This means there will be slight variances in printing registration with differences and imperfections from sheet to sheet. This is one of our favorite aspects of handmade paper, and what we feel adds to it's wonderful character! If you're wanting a perfectly crisp look, handmade paper might not be the best option for you, and we suggest printing your order on premium cardstock instead.
Production time is subject to timeline availability. We do our best to honor requested due dates, but please be aware that unless otherwise specified our current production timeline is a minimum of ten weeks from the date your deposit in paid with certain materials and printing methods requiring longer. A delivery date will be agreed upon before a deposit is made. Any major changes in design may affect the original estimated production time and possibly delay the completion of your order. Please give yourself and us ample time to complete your order, taking proofing and assembly time into consideration. Delay in approving your design proof will result in a delay of your order. Envelope calligraphy orders require a minimum of two weeks for the first 50 envelopes, and an additional week per every 50 envelopes.
Production begins at the agreed upon time, upon the receipt of a deposit, relevant customer documents, shop policies and agreement forms, and supplies. If we do not receive the necessary customer-provided information within our production timeframe, we will either require a rush fee to accommodate your original completion date, or agree to an adjusted due date based on when your items were provided.
All custom orders must be reviewed within two days of delivery. If within two days of delivery, and at the sole discretion of The Keen Bee, reasonable requests for revision will be considered on a case by case basis.
Please know that we cannot guarantee delivery dates on behalf of USPS, nor can we be held responsible for any delays or damage that is caused by USPS. We will not grant cancellations or refunds because of delays caused by USPS. If an item arrives damaged, please contact us within two days of receipt. If the damage is due to factors beyond our control, we will not be held responsible. We will always work with you to find the best solution based on the circumstances. Items may ship individually as they are needed within your order timeline, and will always be fully insured for the full purchase price of items being delivered.
CALLIGRAPHY AND THE USPS:
Your addresses will be written exactly as they appear on your provided address list. We will not make etiquette or spelling corrections or verify addresses. Once calligraphy orders are placed, we can provide you with examples of how to compile your address list and etiquette options upon request. We recommend making sure you have all of your addresses together and send them in one single file. Envelope calligraphy orders require a minimum of two weeks for the first 50 envelopes, and an additional week per every 50 envelopes after that. Envelope addressing for any additional addresses left off of your original list, or corrections to addresses that have already been sent, will be subject to a $50 set up fee.
The USPS scans and reads envelopes electronically. Due to the delicate nature of calligraphy, some addresses or calligraphy styles are more difficult than others to read when put through the USPS, as is the case with any hand lettered address. Any address that cannot be read by the USPS electronic machine will be resorted and hand inspected. If the address still cannot be delivered, it will likely be returned to the return address on the envelope. If The Keen Bee is addressing and posting your pieces, we guarantee that each address you provide us with goes into the mail. The Keen Bee is not responsible for resending, reprinting or reimbursing for invitations or envelopes that were mailed with the address provided by the customer that do not make it to their intended destination. As with any mass mailing, you are likely to have a few of your pieces be undeliverable. Please check your address list carefully to ensure all your addresses are correct to minimize this occurrence.
DAY-OF SIGNAGE & RENTALS:
The Keen Bee does not keep a rental inventory of mirrors, chalkboards, or easels, but is always happy to recommend a local rental vendor in our area to use for your day of signage pieces. The Keen Bee will deliver, setup, and pickup your signage on the day of your event for an additional fee that will be included in your quote based on venue location. We reserve the right to determine if client pickup is possible or if delivery is necessary for your order. If at pickup signs are damaged, a replacement fee will be assessed and billed to the client for the value of the damaged items. We do not currently ship our rental items for out of state events, but we are happy to source a piece that can be purchased as yours to keep after your event. Our current production timeline for day of signage is 10 business days from the time we receive all necessary client provided information to complete your piece.
You agree that we may take photographs of any invitations, stationery, or other items created by The Keen Bee. Customer grants permission to The Keen Bee to request images from customer's event photographer. We reserve the right to use any of these photographs for our own reference, display, proposals, or for promotion without compensation to you. Customer relinquishes the right to review or approve the finished product, including written or electronic copy, wherein any personal likeness may appear.
PAYMENTS, REFUNDS, & INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY:
All orders will require a non-refundable 50% payment retainer to be made before any work can begin or any supplies can be ordered. Your initial retainer is due upon acceptance of our shop policies, terms, and conditions. If payment is not received or is delayed, your order production and completion will also be delayed. Your final payment is due 10 business days prior to the finished product being shipped or delivered. If your final payment is not received, your product will not be shipped or delivered until payment is received, regardless of your contracted or estimated completion date.
Due to the hand lettered quality of all our work, we do not offer refunds on custom and hand calligraphed orders. With hand lettering, it is natural for there to be variations in things such as spacing, size and the style of letters and no two pieces will be identical. This is especially true of calligraphy envelope addressing. All custom signage is created by hand and each piece will have slight variations consistent with hand made goods. There is a lot of labor and love that goes in to making each item, and it is extremely important to us that you are completely in love with your pieces! If for some reason you receive your items and are not completely satisfied, please contact us within two days of delivery and we will always do our best to find a solution.
Client understands and agrees that they have hired The Keen Bee exclusive of any other stationery provider, and no other stationers, other than any assistant or third party that The Keen Bee has hired to complete the services outlined, are permitted to provide the same services, paid or unpaid, unless prior permission is granted by The Keen Bee. Day-Of Pieces: Client understands and agrees that they have hired The Keen Bee exclusive of any other day-of pieces provider, and no other stationers/sign makers/calligraphers/makers, other than any assistant or third party that The Keen Bee has hired to complete the services outlined, are permitted to provide similar services, paid or unpaid, or any services offered by The Keen Bee, unless prior permission is granted by The Keen Bee.
ALL DESIGNS AND DRAFTS REMAIN THE PROPERTY OF THE KEEN BEE LLC. YOU MAY NOT COPY, REPRODUCE, OR ALLOW OTHERS TO REPRODUCE THE FINISHED PRODUCT. DISTRIBUTION FOR COMMERCIAL PURPOSES OR USE OF ANY DESIGNS FOR OTHER ITEMS NOT PROVIDED BY THE KEEN BEE IS STRICTLY PROHIBITED UNLESS EXPRESS PERMISSION IS GIVEN. REUSE OF DESIGNS FOR ANY ITEM NOT CREATED BY THE KEEN BEE IS SUBJECT TO PRIOR APPROVAL AND WILL INCUR A SEPARATE FEE FOR EACH ADDITIONAL USE BEYOND THE ITEMS PROVIDED BY THE KEEN BEE.
